Dr Leong Yiat Horng is a Senior Consultant at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). After obtaining his Bachelor of Engineering in 2000, he pursued medical training in Sydney, Australia and graduated from the University of Sydney (MBBS) in 2005. Integrating his knowledge in both engineering and medicine, he underwent specialist training in Radiation Oncology at NCIS. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and obtained specialist accreditation in Singapore in 2015. He has vast clinical experience in both Singapore and Western Australia.
Dr Leong’s specialty and research interests are in head and neck, gynaecological and breast cancers. He is the Lead of the gynaecologic subspecialty in the department. Dr Leong also leads the departmental brachytherapy service which offers internal radiation therapy to several cancer subsites. He has a keen interest in proton therapy for head and neck cancers. He is actively involved in clinical research and has published his work on head and neck cancers and pelvic cancers, where he is the principal investigator for a number of clinical trials.
Dr Leong is actively engaged in the education of radiotherapy diploma students and undergraduate medical students and is a Clinical Mentor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
