"Unlike internal organs, your skin is something you can check daily for free." This was one of the key take-aways shared at the Skin Cancer Awareness Public Forum.
Over 140 participants also learnt how to identify skin lumps, pigmented nail bands, important tips for skin protection from sun rays and surgical management of skin cancers. The speakers comprised Dr Adeline Yong, Dr Chris Tan, Dr Janet Dua and Dr Mark Edward Puhaindran from NTFGH, NUH and NCIS.
Activity booths by Singapore Cancer Society offered complimentary Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kits and 365 Cancer Prevention Society had a skin cancer quiz. Last but not least, NCIS also had our own cancer information booth as well as an interactive game board to educate the public about the signs and symptoms of colorectal cancer.
